Skiing in Maine

To the Editor: "In Maine, Snowy Elbow Room" (Jan. 6) is a great article that captures the essence and spirit of Sugarloaf, with its above-tree-line skiing and recent expansion of hundreds of acres of glade skiing. Now I have a credible article to point my West Coast friends to. They're dubious of East Coast skiing and have all of the misconceptions associated with it — ice, limited terrain, etc. I've lived in Seattle almost 20 years, skied everywhere, and the Loaf is still my favorite.
