China recently began express train service from Beijing to Guangzhou, Xi'an and Luoyang, making it easier to visit the terra-cotta warriors, the Buddhist carvings at the Longmen Grottoes, and Hong Kong. The new rail service takes five and a half hours to Xi'an and four hours to Luoyang, which cuts travel time to each city from Beijing by more than six hours. A journey from Beijing to Hong Kong that previously took about 22 hours now takes half that on the new Beijing-Guangzhou express line.
