In Transit Blog: Rooms With a Burberry

An umbrella stocked in the hotel closet? Passé, according to the Maybourne Hotel Group in London. The company, which manages the high-end Claridge's, Connaught and Berkeley hotels in a city known for its rain, has made a deal with the fashion brand Burberry to stock each suite with a designer trench coat for guests to use throughout their stay.

The classic coats – in both male and female styles — hang in the hotel closets, and guests can call the front desks to request a more appropriate size. Like the ubiquitous hotel robe — but for external use — the trenches are complimentary and also available for purchase (£995, about $1,500) at check out.

Rooms at the hotels, in which guests have to settle for a complimentary umbrella, start at £780, about $1,200. Suites, with both jackets and umbrellas, start at £1,440, about $2,200.
