Westin Resorts & Hotels announced this week that the running coach and marathoner Christopher Heuisler, 34, will be its first running concierge, as part of the brand's partnership with the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series.
Guests staying at the Westin who are running in a Rock 'n' Roll race have the option to sign up for a V.I.P. package, which costs anywhere from $20 to $30 extra per night above the cost of a room. Once they do, Mr. Heuisler contacts them via e-mail to establish a relationship and is available for any running-related advice like help with charting training plans and injury recovery.
On the weekend of the race, Mr. Heuisler will be on site to lead runners through a warm-up jog and stretching, give them advice about the route and be around for any last-minute questions. There are five races scheduled from now until the end of the year in locations including Denver, Philadelphia and Montreal; the schedule for next year is being determined.
Mr. Heuisler, who has run 25 marathons in 20 states, said that his goal is to make running in a race less intimidating. "I know from personal experience that the thought of a race, especially in a new city, can be scary, and I want runners, new or experienced, to feel completely comfortable," he said.
The package also includes a prerace pasta dinner, a race-morning breakfast, expedited bib pick-up and recovery amenities ranging from ice packs to massages.
Prices per night vary depending on the location but start at $159.
