HomeAway, the private home rental company, has started a new website aimed at its ritziest customers, who want not only accommodations owned by locals, but the very best of such.
Luxury Rentals from HomeAway, like the company's original site, will provide customers with high-end homes, mansions, villas, estates and other specialty properties to rent, all of them vetted by the editors of Andrew Harper, the elite travel publisher and creator of Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report, a monthly newsletter about luxury travel.
Editors use a 75-point screening process, developed specifically for HomeAway, to evaluate each property, which considers price, location, services and other criteria. So far more than 900 rentals in more than 40 countries have been added to the site, submitted both by individuals and rental management companies like La Cure Villas, Luxury Retreats and Travel Keys.
"Andrew Harper has been in the luxury travel business for more than 35 years and has developed the highest standard of excellence when it comes to travel recommendations," Jon Gray, the vice president of HomeAway, said in an email. "We reached out to them to curate our homes in order to create the ultimate resource for travelers."
The usual amenities are included in each booking, with more glamorous embellishments — like in-home cinemas, helicopter landing pads, access to private yachts and equestrian centers — also available.
