For three days next week, Reed Krakoff will fill Glenn Horowitz Bookseller with items from his pre-fall 2014 and fall/winter 2014 collections. It comes as little surprise that the designer chose East Hampton for a summer pop-up; he and his wife Delphine have a home there, once owned by the Bouvier family, which they escape to this time of year. While in town, they often stop into the bookshop, which doubles as a gallery, "to view the latest exhibition, which I always find inspiring," he says.
In 10 words or fewer, Reed tells T what makes a handful of other destinations and institutions in East Hampton special.
Harper's Books: "to purchase a rare photography book."
87 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY, harpersbooks.com.
Georgica Beach: "is a place I've been going to forever."
Apaquogue Rd, East Hampton, NY.
Further Lane: "is where my family and I spend the summer."
Peconic Land Trust: "preserves what is beautiful about the Hamptons."
peconiclandtrust.org.
Guild Hall: "is historic and authentic."
158 Main St, East Hampton, NY, guildhall.org.
Red Horse Market: "has everything you need."
74 Montauk Highway, East Hampton, NY, redhorsemarket.com.
Reed Krakoff's summer pop-up shop is open August 7, 1:30 – 7 pm, and August 8 through 9, 11 am – 7 pm, at Glenn Horowitz Bookseller, 87 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, N.Y., glennhorowitz.com.
