Kenscoff, Haiti | March 16, 2012
I was traveling with my parish priest to visit his former parish in Kenscoff, a town outside of Port-au-Prince. It's a very interesting place, with some very wealthy people living behind concrete walls and some very poor people still living in tents. That day was the 25th anniversary of the town's Catholic school, and I took this shot of girls dressed as angels, taking part in its celebration. Educational opportunities in Haiti are still scarce, and it's not uncommon for children who live up in the mountains above Kenscoff, where there is barely any infrastructure, to walk an hour or more each way to school. The celebration was a welcome break for the town, and people flooded the streets for two days of parades and dancing.
